The Imo State House of Assembly on Tuesday commenced impeachment proceedings against the deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, who has been at loggerheads with his boss, Rochas Okorocha.
CHECKPOINTCHARLEY is informed that Madumere is accused, among other things, of abandonment of his official duties since three months and failure to attend the Imo State Exco meetings. It is also alleged that it has been discovered that he had served prison time in the United States.
Following a petition against Mr. Madumere submitted by the deputy Speaker of the House, Mr Ugonna Ozuigbo, a six-man adhoc committee was set up, with Mr. Kennedy Ibeh, (Obowo State Constituency) as chairman to investigate the allegations and report back to the House in seven days.
However, political pundits had seen this coming. They will now see this as been sponsored by Madumere’s political enemy, Okorocha.
Recall that at the recently concluded APC convention in Abuja, supporters of both men engaged in a free-for-all fight.
Also on Tuesday, another lawmaker, Mr Donatus Onuigwe representing Oru West State Constituency, was suspended for alleged “un-parliamentary conduct.”
