An SSS1 female pupil of Community Secondary School, Otuoke, in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, suspected to be a cult member, on Thursday stabbed her classmate Miss Lillian Friday, in the right eye for refusing to join her cult group.
The culprits name was simply given as Josephine.
It is understood that the incident happened in the country home of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Josephine had been reportedly pressuring Lillian to join her cult group, which she persistently rejected.
According to the victim’s uncle, Benson Agiobu, his niece said Josephine and her gang insisted she must join their group or they would teach her a bitter lesson she wouldn’t forget.
He said, “It was when Lillian refused again that Josephine alerted other members of group who were with her at the time. They held Lillian down while she was stabbed in the right eye with a sharp object by Josephine and they fled.’’
The spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, when contacted said he was yet to be properly briefed on the incident.
Recall that in March, four armed teenagers suspected to be members of a cult group, attacked a Community Secondary School in Bayelsa after the ministry of education expelled seven pupils for alleged cultism.
