Despite saying in London on Monday that he is the least interested in 2019, President Muhammadu has continued to strengthen his campaign team ahead of next year’s presidential election.
Abuja based lawyer, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has been appointed the Director, Strategic Communications, (Official Spokesperson) for the President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 presidential campaign.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Secretary, office of the Director-General, President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organization, Mohammed Dattijo on Tuesday
The statement reads, “Kindly find attached the letter from President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation appointing Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, and Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitration, United Kingdom as the Director, Strategic Communications (Official Spokesperson) for the President’s 2019 presidential campaigns.
Notwithstanding the poor human rights record of the Buhari government, Mr. Keyamo has been an ardent defender of his administration.
President Buhari had told the British Prime Minister, Theresa May when they held bilateral talks in London on Monday that though the country will be having elections in 2019, his primary concern was to tackle insecurity and also put the nation’s economy in a better position.
He added that as his opponents were interested in the forthcoming elections, his interest was to deliver on his election promises.
Recall that Mr. Buhari had declared his intention to seek for re-election last week Monday at the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja, before he left for London.
