The captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, John Obi Mikel has expressed his sadness and frustration over his inability to renew his work permit in China, to enable him join his Super Eagles teammates in time for the game against Serbia at the Hive Stadium, London, on Tuesday night.
He took to the social media on Monday to express his sadness.
Mikel in a statement on his official twitter handle wrote, “Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control I will not be on the field for our game v Serbia tomorrow (Tuesday). I am sad, and frustrated, but giving my full support to the team for another WIN!” #SoarSuperEagles — Mikel John Obi
The Super Eagles captain had missed the clash against Poland in Wroclaw on Friday. Nigeria won the match 1-0, thanks to Chelsea star, Victor Moses.
Coach Gernot Rohr had told CHECKPOINTCHARLEY in Wroclaw that Obi would not be allowed to reenter China if he left without renewing his work permit.
“That is why he has to stay behind to enable him sort it out.
“We hope he would be available for the match against Serbia,” he said.
Rohr has invited Turkey-based midfielder Mikel Agu to replace him.
