An unknown gunman on Thursday killed a final-year banking student ot Imo State University, Owerri, Miss Kelechi Ibeh that was full of life on her birthday.
The gunman, whose motive is still unclear, reportedly stormed Ibeh’s 23rd birthday anniversary party, which was held at her residence along Douglas Road in Owerri and shot her.
The President of the National Association of Banking and Finance Students Association, IMSU chapter, Victor Adiele,as well as the Public Relations Officer of the University, Nze Njoku-Obi, confirmed the incident.
Mr. Adiele, in a statement, expressed bitterness and shock over her sudden death.
He said, “It was a black Thursday for the entire student body of Banking and Finance. With tears of agony and bitterness, the students of NABAFS mourn the sudden death of our beloved colleague and friend, Miss Kelechi Ibeh.
“She was to graduate by August 2018. She was shot dead on Thursday by an unknown gunman. That day happened to be her 23rd birthday anniversary. It was very painful that she was not able to celebrate her day to the end.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, said the killing has been reported to the police.
