The Suspended former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin has been recalled by the House of Representatives.
This followed his sending in of a letter apologizing to the House for his numerous allegations which brought the Green Chamber to disrepute.
The Speaker of the House Yakubu Dogara showed the letter to members on Teusday’s plenary, saying Jibrin has fulfilled all the conditions that was given to him by the House ” and can resume legislative duties if he so wishes.”
Mr. Jibrin was suspended for 180 days on September 16th 2016 on the recommendations of the Ethics and Privileges committee.
He was also disqualified from occupying any position of authority in the House till the end of the 8th assembly.
Jibrin had embarrassed the House with his numerous allegations against the Speaker Yakubu Dogara and three other principal officers. But the allegations were not properly investigated by Nigeria’s security agencies, especially the EFCC.
The lawmaker had alleged that the 2016 budget was padded to the tune of billions of Naira by the principal officers of the House, referring to the Speaker as “corrupt” and a “shameless thief”
He also claimed that members of the House received hundreds of millions as running cost.
