World number two Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark crowned the revival of her career with three sets victory (7-6,3-6,6-4) over world number one, Simona Halep in Melbourne on Saturady to win the Australian Open.
It is the first grand slam triumph of the former world number one after losing in the finals of the US Open in 2009 and 2014.
Hard-fighting Halep of Romania has now lost all her three grand slam finals, following defeats in the French Open in 2014 and 2017.
With the victory Wozniacki’s life-long dream has been fulfilled after once being world number one without a grand slam title.
She will storm back to world number one on Monday.
