The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has detained the sacked Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, for alleged N223m fraud, EFCC sources tell CHECKPOINTCHARLEY.
Lawal arrived at the Abuja office of the EFCC around 11am on Wednesday after which he was detained, a source said.

Babachir was sacked by President Buhari on October 30th 2017 following his indictment in a report by the presidential investigation panel chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. He was accused of spending over N200 million of taxpayers’ money to cut grasses at IDP camps.
EFCC Acting Head, Media & Publicity, Samin Amaddin confirmed Babachir’s arrest, saying he is being interrogated by EFCC investigators and that he cooperating.
