The Imo State Police Command has embarked on a mass arrest of 36 students of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State, following the killing of a member of the National Youth Service Corps, simply identified as Justice.
This was disclosed to journalists in Owerri, the state capital on Monday by the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike.
He said, apart from arresting the prime suspects, the command had carried out a raid at the scene of the crime, which led to the arrest of the 36 students.
Mr. Ezike also disclosed that the preliminary investigation conducted by the command showed that the killing was cult-related. According to him the raid and mass arrest were necessary to prevent any reprisal from a rival cult group.
CHECKPOINTCHARLEY had reported how the deceased, a graduate of the institution serving in Cross River State, was murdered at the Polytechnic junction last Saturday.
