One person was killed on Thursday and many others were injured as suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Gaambe-Tiev, Tombo Council Ward in Logo LGA of Benue State.
The deceased was identified as Ortse Saater Kwaghdom, while Hingir Akaa is said to have sustained serious gunshot wounds.
Many other members of the community are still missing as at the time of filing this report.
Benue State Police Command PRO, ASP Moses Yamu, confirmed the attack and said one person has been arrested in connection with the crime.
He said, “Yes, we received a report on Wednesday that there was an attack on Azege village in Logo when suspected herdsmen passed through in the early hours of the day.
“The DPO and Mobile Police Men stationed at Ayilamo quickly moved in, discovered that one Ortser Kwaghdoo, 40, was killed while Hingir Akaa, 70, sustained injuries.
“However, one Gambo Ahmadu was arrested.”
The attack comes within hours after Benue governor, Samuel Ortom declared prohibition of open grazing in the state.
