President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari on Wednesday bullied Nigeria’s Head of Civil Service, Winifred Oyo-Ita at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, before the commencement of the meeting of the Federal Executive Council, over the latter’s leaked memo to Kyari on the embattled former pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina.
Recall that CHECKPOINTCHARLEY reported that Mrs Oyo-Ita has said in the leaked memo that Buhari was aware of Maina’s reinstatement and that she had warned him about it.
But Mr. Kyari ungentlemanly showed her today that he was not amused about the leakage of the memo. It is gathered that the Chief of Staff, accused of heading a cabal at the presidency, believes that it was Mrs. Oyo-Ita who leaked the letter to the press.
And before the commencement of FEC meeting, an angry Kyari bullied the HoS, as he engaged her in a heated argument over the matter. An eye witness has told CHECKPOINTCHARLEY that Kyari conducted himself in a manner not expected of his office.
“It was without respect for the woman; a kind of bullying,” the source said. “Mrs Oyo-Ita was very angry over Kayri’s misconduct,” the source added.
The misbehaviour was said to have been witnessed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie-Oyegun.
It is understood that Saraki, Dogara and Oyegun were present to witness the inauguration of the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, as well as the inauguration of the 2018 Armed Forces Remembrance emblem.
Buhari has since inaugurated the new SGF. He has also inaugurated the remembrance emblem.
The scandalous reinstatement of Maina into public service has created an image problem for the Buhari administration that prides itself as a government with zero tolerance for corruption.
