Tension Returns To Umuahia As Soldiers Hold Nnamdi Kanu Hostage, Shoot Sporadically

Tension returned to the peaceful city of Umuahia on Tuesday as soldiers of the Nigerian Army surrounded the Afara Ukwu residence of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

CHECKPOINTCHARLEY gathers that Kanu’s country home is surrounded by a detachment of soldiers who returned barely 48 hours after the clash with IPOB members on Sunday evening, which left three people wounded.

This time they came with about 10 Armoured Carrier vehicles and seven Hilux vans.

CHECKPOINTCHARLEY is informed that the soldiers invaded Kanu’s residence as early as 6am Tuesday and started shooting sporadically.

IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, has confirmed the siege.

Details soon…
