Catholic Priest Kidnapped, Murdered In Imo

The Police in Imo State have confirmed the kidnap and murder of a catholic priest, Reverend father Cyriacus Onunkwo.

He was reportedly abducted by gunmen Friday morning while driving in his car in Orlu town in Orlu Local Government Area of the state.

Imo State Commissioner of Police Chris Ezike, told Channels TV that following a manhunt, a body was discovered on Saturday in the bush Omuma Village in Orlu East Local Government Area.

The recovered corpse has been identified as that of father Onunkwo, while investigations are still on to unveil his killers, the COP said.

According to the Police the late cleric’s car was found intact, with nothing removed from it. His body also did not bear any gunshot or stab wounds, leading to presumption that he may have been strangled.
