The Coalition of Northern Groups has withdrawn the infamous quit notice given to Igbos living in northern part of the country to leave before October 1, 2017.

This was announced in Abuja on Thursday evening by the leaders of the group at a press conference.

The group members had met with the Governor of Borno State, who is also the Chairman of Northern Governors’ Forum, Mallam Ibrahim Shetima and a former Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Kabiru Gaya.

Ex-minister Sani Daura and the Leader of Arewa Youths Council, Alhaji Shettima Yerima and a Nollywood Actor, Kenneth Okonkwo were also present at the meeting.

A coalition of Northern Youth had on June 6, 2017 in a so-called “The Kaduna Declaration” given all Igbos living in any part of Northern Nigeria three months to relocate to their places of origin. Northerners residing in the East were also given the same time to go back to the North.

Warrants for the arrest of the youths and their backers were issued but nobody was arrested by the police.
