A video uploaded on Youtube may have revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari hurriedly left London on Saturday, after over 100 days medical sojourn, to return to Nigeria, where people are really angry over his long absence and poor state of the country.
In the video, angry Nigerians, led by one Mr. Enahoro, held a night vigil in front of Abuja House, London, where Buhari was recuperating and holed up – demanding that he should either go home or resign. This must have been embarrassing for the Nigerian president, who may have shattered the Guinness Book of Records for the longest absence from duty for a sitting president due to illness.
It is understood that the president decided to run before the protest gets world attention. Mr. Buhari left London in a matter of hours after the night vigil.
He has since arrived Abuja and is expected to address the Nation on Monday, according to a statement released on Saturday by the Presidency.
Mr. Buhari left Nigeria on May 7, 2017 when he embarked on his second medical vacation to the United Kingdom.
