A Lance Corporal in the Nigerian Army, Victor Chukwunonso, who allegedly helped Chukwudumeje George Onwuamadike, aka Evans, kidnap his victims, has been arrested in Lagos on Saturday, as the Police begin a crackdown of the “accomplices” of the billionaire kidnapper.
Recall that CHECKPOINTCHARLLEY had reported that Evans “the terrible” had named his accomplices, which included some prominent southeast businessmen.
It is gathered that Mr. Chukwunonso was one of those named. The suspect, serving at the Army Band Corps, Aba Iti Barracks in Surulere (Force No: 09/NA/64/6317), was arrested around 9pm on Saturday at Ojo by operatives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
Chukwunonso, a native of Onitsha in Anambra State, has reportedly confessed to have followed Evans on three missions to kidnap citizens he was recruited by the Nigerian Army to protect.
Police sources say that he has confessed to receiving N2million, N1.5million and N3million as his share of the ransom from the three operations he participated in.
