Arrested billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudemeje George Onwuamadike (aka Evans) has started singing in custody. He has confessed that he started as an armed robber in Sokoto when he dabbled into crime after returning from a failed sojourn in Cape Town, South Africa. He also revealed that he and his gang had killed their victim.

The kidnap kingpin, rated as the richest in Nigerian history, also disclosed to his interrogators as he broke down in a maximum cell where he is being held among “common poor criminals”, that apart from his known detention camp, he had two others in Lagos. Those were the places his syndicate held their kidnap victims until the last cent of the ransom demanded was paid.

Sources say that Evans broke down on Wednesday as he lamented the condition of the police cell. He had reportedly said that after making billions, owning gold, diamond and living like a king, he is still being held in a cell with common poor suspects.

The source said: “He has been weeping uncontrollably because he is in a cell with common poor criminals despite all the wealth and mansions he owned.

“He has started talking. He has given us locations of other detention camps he had in Lagos. Aside Igando, he had two others and detectives would visit the place. He also said that his very first robbery was in Sokoto State and that they killed the victim.

“He is still being interrogated and more details would come out after the camps have been visited.”

It has also been revealed that Evans, who was arrested on Saturday at his 3, Fred Shoboyede Street, Magodo mansion, had been excommunicated from Nnewi for over five years because of the terror he unleashed on wealthy indigenes of the town.

The Nation reported that his second in command, Felix Chinemerem, a native of Amanagu in Abia State, was also declared wanted in 2014, after his criminal activities led to the killing of many innocent people.

According to the report, Chinemerem took part in the kidnap of a prominent Nigerian, which prompted policemen to storm the community and allegedly shot randomly. Many villagers lost their lives in the process.

Irked villagers were said to have moved to kill him but he fled and had not been seen since then.
