Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has listed the new wonder-boy of European football, Kylian Mbappe of AS Monaco as his main summer target as he hopes to strengthen his squad for better fortunes after failing to qualify for the champions league for the first time in twenty years.
Apart from Mbappe who dazzled in the champions league and helped his club win the French League title ahead of big-spending favourites, PSG, Wenger is also chasing Olympique Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette and Mbappe’s teammate Thomas Lemar. The Arsenal coach has identified the three as his primary summer targets.
But Arsenal will face a fierce fight in their bid to sign Mbappe. Real Madrid are also interested in the player, for whom they are ready to break the world transfer record. And the La Liga champions plan to make their bid for him more alluring with a deal that would allow the 18-year-old to first remain at Monaco for another year on loan.
According to the daily Mirror, the Gunners also want Lyon striker Lacazette, who it is estimated would cost the London club 60million Euro should they succeed.
Midfielder Lemar, who also shone in the champions league for Monaco, is another top priority for Wenger, who he publicly said he prefers over Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.
However, it need to be said that Arsenal, all things been equal, haven failed to qualify for the champions league, may not be an attractive destination to these players targeted.
