A former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, recently arraigned before the Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta on 18 counts, bordering on conspiracy, stealing, obtaining money by false pretences and abuse of office, has resigned his appointment as the Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
Ogunlewe resigned on Wednesday, citing personal reasons for his decision as he talked to the Press.
The former minister was arraigned alonside the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Olusola Oyewole; and the Bursar of the institution, Mr. Moses Ilesanmi.
They deny the charges and had pleaded not guilty.
Ogunlewe stated that his resignation had nothing to do with the case.
He said, “I have decided to resign my appointment as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta with immediate effect. This is due to personal reasons.
“I sincerely thank the Federal Government for giving me the opportunity to serve. The Federal Government should please accept the assurances of my best regards.”
