Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state has vowed to retrieve all the lands illegally acquired by the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion and hand them over to investors.
He threatened the Esama at his own backyard in Okada community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state, (Igbinedion’s home soil) while receiving about one thousand five hundred persons, including Igbinedion’s cousin, Mr Ewemade into the APC alongside party’s governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki. The governor stated that the state government has granted waivers to investors so as to encourage them in the industrialisation of the state.
Oshiomhole also sent a warning to any Benin chief who may want to also usurp the position of the Oba of Benin. He vowed to stop such Benin Chief who may intend to take the position of the Oba of Benin, saying that the Oba’s position remains sacrosanct.
“I will stop any Benin Chief who wants to take the position of the Oba of Benin. I am aware that I have had cause to revoke some lands illegally acquired by Chief Igbinedion, I will revoke more and give to investors.”
